As a guest, weddings are nothing but fun. But for the bride and groom, weddings take a lot of work. It can feel like a full-time job ON TOP of your actual full-time job. Now, I know what you’re thinking: you have so many months to plan, you can’t possibly be that busy all the time, right? You’d be surprised. Between the venue-picking, vendor-calling, flower-selecting (dare I go on?), keeping track of it all can feel like you’re running around with your hair on fire. But fear not! These tips will help you extinguish any wedding planning stress you might have.

Divide Up the Workload

He’s at it again. Mr. (mostly) Wonderful is watching his favorite shows while you’re sitting there, crossing  out every vendor you found online due to their extortionately high price or seeing too many bad reviews. While much of wedding planning can be a fun and exciting process (who doesn’t want to know what they look like in a wedding dress?), sometimes it gets to be too much. The good news? Not only is your fiancé your best friend and soulmate, but they’re your number one teammate you can count on when the going gets tough. Let them handle a portion of the responsibilities so everything isn’t just up to you.

Be Realistic with Your Standards

Your selfie game might rival that of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but most of our bank accounts aren’t quite as comparable. So, while it would definitely be nice to walk down the aisle through a bed of roses and launch heart-shaped fireworks after the first kiss, you might want to tailor your expectations according to what’s feasible and affordable for you. That might mean you decide to host an budget-friendly barn wedding or save thousands by halving the guest list. Whatever the case, being realistic with your expectations is a surefire way to enjoy your day to the fullest.

Have a Plan for Your Money

What’s that? The wedding venue has golden toilets AND a chocolate fondue station?! I get it. There are many reasons to absolutely adore a pricy venue or vendor. But you’ll regret acting on impulse when you’re left with little to spend on everything else. The easiest way to get what you want is to constantly keep an eye on your budget. You can do this by closely monitoring your online bank account for all wedding-related expenses and making sure they don’t tally up to exceed your total budget. Weddings are expensive events, so it’s understandable why they’d cause a great deal of stress. However, if you only spend within the parameters of your budget, you can relax knowing you have a plan for every dollar.

Take a Break

It’s true that your fiancé chose you out of the 7.7 billion other people in the world, so that obviously means you’re special—but you’re still human. You can’t be expected to work around the clock, day-in and day-out. Don’t be afraid to take a break from planning and organizing everything. Even professional wedding planners take days off. Let off some steam by enjoying your usual hobbies and spending time with the one you’ll be spending the rest of your life with. You’ll be surprised just how revitalized you’ll feel after allowing yourself some time off.
